mission and strategic plan

MISSION:  Coordinate and facilitate resources to minimize the impacts of disasters and emergencies on people, property, the environment and the economy of Walla Walla County.  Through education, training, information, and community awareness, we will prepare for; respond to; recover from; and mitigate the effects of disaster for all who live, work, or visit here.

WHO WE ARE:  Walla Walla County Emergency Management (WWCEM) is organized by an interlocal agreement between Walla Walla County and the cities of Walla Walla, College Place, Waitsburg, and Prescott to provide emergency management services as required by Chapter 38.52 RCW

SERVICES:  WWCEM provides mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery planning for major disaster events and facilitates forums with emergency responders to exchange information and improve plans. We are prepared to open an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to provide support to field incident commanders and information to the public when a disaster occurs.  WWCEM provides public information on the hazards in Walla Walla County; how we can mitigate or reduce their effects and ways of preparing ourselves.

SPEAKER:  We can assist you in getting a speaker at your school, business, civic group, church, or other gathering to provide information on emergency preparedness, local hazards, or hazard mitigation.

If you want to improve your emergency preparedness at your school, business, church or organization, an emergency preparedness workshop can be conducted in about an hour. The workshop includes a discussion of the hazards in our area and what we can do to prepare for and mitigate each hazard.
