Interested in becoming a Title 11 or Title 26 GAL? The first step is to complete the initial training course. Title 26 requires a 3-day training and completion of a practicum (see link below for more information). Title 11 requires a 2-day training and a minimum five years’ experience in the needs of impaired elderly people, physical disabilities, mental illness, developmental disabilities, and/or other areas relevant to the needs of incapacitated persons (two years' experience for practicing attorneys).

The training courses are based off of a statewide curriculum and equivalent training may be offered by other Washington counties. The link below may help you locate another training. If there are no trainings listed, you may want to contact the counties directly to find out when they will be having their next training. King County will most likely be next to host a training. You can contact Kayla Zimmer at 509 524 2813 if you have further questions.
